About the role

Pinecrest Systems is modernizing a legacy production platform that must stay online 24/7. We need a Database Administrator who can design, tune, and migrate data stores while guaranteeing zero‑downtime. This part‑time contract focuses on incremental upgrades and real‑time replication strategies.

Key responsibilities

• Assess current schema and performance bottlenecks across PostgreSQL, MongoDB, and MySQL.
• Implement zero‑downtime migration plans using logical replication and rolling upgrades.
• Automate backup, restore, and monitoring pipelines.
• Collaborate with dev and ops teams to embed data health checks into CI/CD.
• Document migration steps and post‑migration validation procedures.

Must-have skills

• 5+ years managing PostgreSQL, MongoDB, and MySQL in production.
• Proven experience with zero‑downtime migrations and high‑availability setups.
• Strong SQL scripting and performance tuning abilities.
• Familiarity with cloud‑native database services.

Nice to have

• Experience with containerized database deployments.
• Knowledge of data masking and compliance frameworks.
