GraphQL API Developer Needed for REST Layer Refactor

About the role

Summit Digital is modernizing its e‑commerce platform and needs a GraphQL API Developer to lead a test‑automation uplift that will slash regression risk before the next major launch. You will own the design of a robust GraphQL layer for the new "Pulse Checkout" module and embed automated validation throughout the CI pipeline.

Key responsibilities

• Design and implement a GraphQL schema for the Pulse Checkout module, integrating with existing REST services.
• Develop Jest‑based unit tests and Cypress end‑to‑end tests covering all new queries and mutations.
• Configure GitHub Actions to run automated test suites on every pull request and nightly builds.
• Collaborate with QA engineers to convert manual regression suites into automated GraphQL test cases.
• Document API contracts and test coverage metrics in Confluence.
• Monitor test flakiness and refine test data generation using Faker.js.

Must-have skills

• Strong experience building GraphQL APIs with Node.js.
• Proficiency in JavaScript/TypeScript and REST API integration.
• Hands‑on knowledge of Jest, Cypress, and CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions or similar).
• Understanding of test‑automation best practices and code coverage tools.

Nice to have

• Familiarity with Apollo Server and schema stitching.
• Experience with performance testing tools like k6.
