REST API Developer – High-Volume API Design

About the role

BlueSky Ventures is launching a brand‑new SaaS product from scratch. We need a focused REST API Developer to design and implement the core service layer that will power our platform. You will work with a remote‑first team, shaping architecture and delivering production‑ready endpoints.

Key responsibilities

• Design clean, versioned RESTful APIs for internal and external consumption
• Implement server‑side logic using NodeJS and JavaScript
• Model and query data in PostgreSQL, ensuring performance and security
• Write unit and integration tests, and set up CI pipelines
• Collaborate with product and front‑end engineers to define contracts

Must-have skills

• Proven experience building production REST APIs
• Strong NodeJS and JavaScript expertise
• Deep knowledge of PostgreSQL schema design and query optimization
• Familiarity with API documentation standards (OpenAPI/Swagger)

Nice to have

• Experience with serverless deployment (AWS Lambda, Azure Functions)
• Knowledge of containerization (Docker) and orchestration
