About the role
Northbay Systems is revamping the performance and reliability of its flagship customer‑facing vision services. As a Computer Vision Engineer you will lead the overhaul of the "VisionPulse" module, ensuring low‑latency inference and robust scaling under peak traffic. This short‑term contract focuses on delivering measurable speed gains and fault‑tolerant pipelines.
Key responsibilities
- Profile and benchmark the existing VisionPulse inference pipeline on GPU and CPU clusters.
- Refactor TensorFlow models to TensorRT‑optimized versions and integrate ONNX runtime for cross‑platform support.
- Implement automated health checks and Prometheus alerts for model serving endpoints.
- Design a CI/CD workflow in GitLab CI that runs model validation, container builds, and blue‑green deployments.
- Collaborate with the backend team to expose a high‑throughput REST API using FastAPI and gRPC fallback.
- Document performance metrics and produce a post‑mortem report after each release milestone.
Must-have skills
- Deep expertise in Python and computer vision libraries (OpenCV, PyTorch, TensorFlow).
- Experience optimizing models for real‑time inference on NVIDIA GPUs.
- Proficiency with containerization (Docker) and orchestration (Kubernetes).
- Strong knowledge of RESTful API design and performance monitoring tools.
- Ability to write clean, testable code and unit tests for vision pipelines.
Nice to have
