About the role

Harbor Softworks is preparing a major app store launch that requires tight coordination between mobile front‑ends and backend services. We need a PostgreSQL Administrator to ensure the database layer is performant, reliable, and perfectly aligned with the mobile API strategy.

Key responsibilities

• Design and implement schema changes that support new mobile features.
• Optimize queries and indexes for low‑latency API responses.
• Set up automated backups, monitoring, and alerting tailored to release cycles.
• Collaborate with backend engineers to integrate PostgreSQL with micro‑services and caching layers.
• Document migration procedures and performance benchmarks.

Must-have skills

• 5+ years managing PostgreSQL in production.
• Strong SQL tuning and indexing expertise.
• Experience with replication, failover, and point‑in‑time recovery.
• Proficiency in Linux command line and scripting.

Nice to have

• Familiarity with MongoDB or MySQL for hybrid data stores.
• Knowledge of containerized deployments (Docker, Kubernetes).
• Exposure to mobile backend patterns such as GraphQL or gRPC.
