Senior REST API Developer for Public API Rollout

About the role

Cascade Apps is revamping its customer‑facing services to boost performance and reliability. We need a seasoned REST API Developer to redesign core endpoints, tighten latency, and ensure fault‑tolerant operations across our platform.

Key responsibilities

• Analyze existing API bottlenecks and design high‑throughput alternatives
• Implement robust error handling, retries, and circuit‑breaker patterns
• Optimize database queries and indexing for PostgreSQL workloads
• Write comprehensive unit and integration tests for all new services
• Collaborate with QA and DevOps to embed monitoring and alerting

Must-have skills

• 5+ years building and scaling RESTful services
• Deep expertise in NodeJS and JavaScript (ES6+)
• Strong command of PostgreSQL performance tuning
• Proven track record improving API latency and uptime

Nice to have

• Experience with containerization (Docker) and orchestration (Kubernetes)
• Familiarity with API gateway solutions (e.g., Kong, Apigee)
• Background in automated CI/CD pipelines for backend services
