About the role

Harbor Softworks is modernizing its IoT platform to deliver rock‑solid performance for millions of devices. As the IoT Solutions Architect you will lead the performance and reliability overhaul of the customer‑facing services, focusing on the new "PulseBridge" module that synchronizes telemetry streams in real time.

Key responsibilities

• Design and implement a high‑throughput data pipeline for PulseBridge using Apache Kafka and gRPC.
• Refactor existing micro‑services on Kubernetes to reduce latency by 30% through service mesh tuning (Istio).
• Establish end‑to‑end monitoring with Prometheus, Grafana, and OpenTelemetry for all IoT edge gateways.
• Conduct load‑testing with Locust and JMeter to validate SLA targets under peak traffic.
• Document architecture decisions and create runbooks for automated failover in AWS IoT Core.
• Mentor junior engineers on secure OTA update strategies and TLS‑based device authentication.

Must-have skills

• Deep expertise in IoT protocols (MQTT, CoAP) and edge computing.
• Strong Linux system administration, container orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes).
• Proficiency with Python and JavaScript for service development and scripting.
• Experience building RESTful APIs and integrating with cloud services.
• Solid background in performance tuning, monitoring, and observability tools.

Nice to have

• Familiarity with AWS Greengrass or Azure IoT Edge.
• Knowledge of security frameworks such as Zero‑Trust for IoT devices.
