About the role

Northbay Systems is building a next‑gen IoT platform to power its upcoming app store release. As an IoT Solutions Architect you will align mobile client SDKs with backend services, ensuring seamless device onboarding, data sync, and over‑the‑air updates for the new "PulseBridge" module.

Key responsibilities

• Design end‑to‑end architecture for the PulseBridge mobile‑backend integration using MQTT, gRPC, and REST.
• Create CI/CD pipelines in GitLab for automated firmware builds, container images, and mobile SDK packaging.
• Implement secure device provisioning with AWS IoT Core, X.509 certificates, and IAM policies.
• Define data models and schema migration strategy for real‑time telemetry stored in InfluxDB.
• Collaborate with mobile developers to optimize SDK footprint for iOS and Android, conducting performance profiling.
• Produce technical documentation and run knowledge‑transfer workshops for the client‑side engineering team.

Must-have skills

• Deep expertise in IoT protocols (MQTT, CoAP) and cloud services (AWS IoT, Azure IoT Hub).
• Strong background in Linux system administration, containerization (Docker, Kubernetes).
• Proficiency in Python and JavaScript for edge‑side scripting and API development.
• Experience designing and securing REST APIs for high‑scale mobile backends.
• Architectural pattern design for OTA updates and device lifecycle management.

Nice to have

• Familiarity with Terraform or CloudFormation for infrastructure as code.
• Previous work on mobile SDKs for iOS/Android in a CI/CD environment.
