About the role

We are modernizing a legacy production platform that must stay online 24/7. As a MongoDB Specialist, you will design and implement schema migrations, performance enhancements, and zero‑downtime deployment strategies. Your work will directly enable a smoother, more scalable data layer for upcoming feature work.

Key responsibilities

• Plan and execute zero‑downtime data migrations on a live MongoDB cluster.
• Optimize queries, indexes, and sharding to meet latency targets.
• Collaborate with backend engineers to refactor data access patterns.
• Implement monitoring and alerting for data health during rollout.
• Document migration procedures and rollback plans.

Must-have skills

• 5+ years managing production MongoDB environments.
• Deep knowledge of replica sets, sharding, and version upgrades.
• Proficiency in JavaScript/NodeJS for scripting migrations.
• Experience with zero‑downtime deployment techniques.
• Strong problem‑solving and communication skills.

Nice to have

• Familiarity with Docker or Kubernetes for containerized DB services.
• Background in CI/CD pipelines for database changes.
• Exposure to cloud‑hosted MongoDB (Atlas, AWS DocumentDB).
