About the role
BlueSky Ventures is launching a greenfield SaaS product and needs a MongoDB Specialist to design the data layer from scratch. You will work with a remote‑first team, shaping schema, indexes, and replication strategies that support rapid feature delivery.
Key responsibilities
- Design and implement scalable MongoDB schemas for new micro‑services
- Set up sharding, replication, and backup procedures
- Write aggregation pipelines and optimize query performance
- Collaborate with backend engineers to integrate data access patterns
- Document data models and provide guidance on best practices
Must-have skills
- Deep experience with MongoDB deployment and performance tuning
- Proficiency in JavaScript/NodeJS for data access code
- Understanding of ACID vs. eventual consistency in NoSQL
- Ability to work autonomously in a remote environment
Nice to have
- Experience with Atlas or other managed MongoDB services
- Familiarity with Docker/Kubernetes for database containers
- Knowledge of data security and compliance standards
